Teatro Olimpico
Notice: due to the renovation work on the roof of Palazzo del Territorio, the entrance to the Theater is temporarily from Stradella del Teatro Olimpico, at numbers 6 (a 10-cm step) and 8 (a 2-cm step).
Physical access:
The peculiar architectural characteristics of Teatro Olimpico, a Renaissance jewel, have led to the need to create one-way routes facilitating the large flow of tourists, taking advantage of the passage from the basement. For visitors with wheelchairs and mobility difficulties, it is still possible to enter via direct access.
Strollers for transporting children can be left in the bookshop room (ask the staff on duty for assistance).
Standard route: access to the Theater by going down a flight of stairs with a handrail leading to the basement, going back up the stairs on the opposite side, also with a handrail. At this point you can access the cavea gallery (width 87 cm), allowing you to see the Theater. You can sit on the wooden steps, climbing only from the lowest steps (height approx. 20 cm). At the end of the gallery you exit the ramp (8% slope) reaching the Antiodeo and Odeo rooms.
Direct route: entering from Stradella del Teatro Olimpico 8, you reach directly the Antiodeo room, which in turn is connected to the Theater environment thanks to a ramp with an 8% slope. On the two opposite sides of the gallery there is space for a wheelchair.
The Garden can currently be visited up to the barriers delimiting the work in progress.
