Gabinetto disegni e stampe

The Gabinetto disegni e stampe [Drawings and Prints Cabinet] houses approximately 9,000 drawings, engravings, manuscripts, and rare editions. Among them, several particularly valuable works and graphic collections stand out.

The Drawings section includes 33 autograph drawings by Andrea Palladio, donated in 1838 by the Veronese collector Gaetano Pinali; the Architecture section includes drawings and projects by Vincenzo Scamozzi, Ottone Calderari, Bartolomeo Malacarne, Giovanni Miglioranza, Francesco Muttoni, and Luigi Toniato; furthermore the graphic collections by Antonio De Pieri, Orazio Marinali, Giovanni Busato, Bartolomeo Bongiovanni, and Federico Castegnaro, as well as the more modern Ubaldo Oppi, Filippo de Pisis, Tono Zancanaro, Augusto Murer, and Nereo Quagliato.

The Engravings and Prints section features works by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, Albrecht Dürer, Cristoforo Dall'Acqua, Marco Moro, Palma the Younger, Parmigianino, Remondini, Guido Reni, Piranesi, Canaletto (including the complete set of 12 engravings of Festivals and Ceremonies of the Republic by Canaletto and Brustolon), the rich Sadeler Collection, as well as more modern works by Neri Pozza, Nerina Noro, Giorgio Peretti, Guido Strazza, Gianfranco Ferroni, and posters by the contemporaries Folon, Milton Glaser, and Paul Davis.

The Manuscripts and Rare Editions section includes the precious Travel Notebook from Paris to Venice by architect Vincenzo Scamozzi, as well as Girolamo Chiericati's Account Book and works by Sadeler, Salvator Rosa, Gianbattista Pittoni, Orazio Marinali, Ottone Calderari, Marcantonio Raimondi, Marco Moro, and Giovanni Miglioranza.

In 2013, coinciding with the Museum's restoration, the Gabinetto disegni e stampe was moved to the new, secure, climate-controlled storage areas in the 16th-century wing of Palazzo Chiericati. The entire collection has been undergoing a conservative reorganization and inventory verification since the same period.

The Gabinetto disegni e stampe is accessible to scholars by appointment.
