Vicenza Inclusion - Tactile Path, Archaeological Section
The tour includes an in-depth look at six works located in the various rooms, four in the archaeological section and two in the Natural History section.
In Berga Roman Theater room of the archaeological section, visitors will find the “Bukephalion,” a bull's head in local marble that was part of the architectural decoration of the ancient theater of Vicenza (1st century AD). Also on the ground floor in the Roman section is a reproduction of a “Potnia Theron” clay antefix from the late 1st century BC, while in the room dedicated to the Lombards is a reproduction of a small golden cross found in Dueville (VI) from the 7th century AD.
The tour then moves on to the Iron Age room, where two finds from Vicenza area have been selected: a significant bronze tablet with the Venetic alphabet from Piazzetta San Giacomo. The other find is the famous basalt inscribed stele from Isola Vicentina, where the word Venetkens appears for the first time.
The tour continues upstairs, in the section dedicated to Prehistory. Here, you'll find a square-mouthed ceramic cup decorated with a sgraffito ladder motif. The find dates back to the Neolithic period and comes from Val Liona, near Villa del Ferro.
